What is business liability insurance?
This type of insurance protects you if you’re liable for damage to a person (‘personal injury’) or other people’s belongings (‘material damage’). You’re also covered if you accidentally damage the items that you work with during your task (this is called ‘care, custody and control’, and is specifically about the items that belong to your client), so you can truly work worry-free!
Some example scenarios that are covered
- You’re picking up a meal for a hospitality check. As you’re walking out, you’re writing down your experience in the Roamler app and accidentally bump into someone. Nobody’s hurt, but your fork has made a hole in their brand new coat. (Covered: other people’s belonings)
- You’ve put down your bag in the walkway of a store to take a picture for your task. An elderly shopper doesn’t see it in time. She trips and falls very badly, and has to go to the hospital. (Covered: personal injury)
Some example scenarios that are not covered
- You’re doing a task, when you accidentally drop your phone. Your screen is broken. (Not covered: personal belongings)
- During a hospitality check, you decide to push your assignment a bit further, on your own accord. You deliberately knock over a drink, to see how the staff reacts. Unfortunately you didn’t see the computer beforehand, which is now broken. (Not covered: intent)
